This is my regular hangout so if you are a blog-stalker you can subscribe by using the handy dandy RSS feature and never miss a post.  If you see something you want to tell your friends about, just hit the "email" button on the bottom of every post!  Oh, and if you are a blog-stalker then please leave me a comment on a story that you like...I'd love to hear from you!

Thanks for stopping in - now grab your latte, browse around, check out the images and what's happening, hug someone you know, and say hi to someone you don't know!

Ken Duncan's Incredible Photography

Photographer Ken Duncan has some of the most amazing imagery I have ever seen. His photographs draw you into each place and make you feel as though you were standing next to him.

I have three of his books and they are well worth every penny!

In the mean time, check out his slideshow entitled, Sanctuary.

Best Wishes,
Michael

A Wonderful Letter

I received an e-mail from one of my clients, James & Carrie, and it is one of the nicest notes I have ever received!  With their permission, here is the letter:

"Hi Michael,

You photographed our wedding back in April of 2006 and I had just checked in on your website today to see your posting about your big move out West. Congratulations and let me say that I am so happy for you.  I remember talking with you about extended family and that you seemed so wistful about your families being far away and it seems very right that you are now closer to them.  I wish you much success in your new location but I am sure that you will find it because of your talent and hard work.

I stopped by your website to drop you an email because I had been looking at my framed wedding pictures this weekend and thinking about what a blessing it was to have you as our photographer.  The one thing I remember about that day was how happy we both were to be getting married and our photographs are such clear proof of that; I think even our great grandchildren will be able to see it radiating out of the prints even if they never know James and I.  The flowers I paid for were dead before the week was out and my dress will likely never see the light of the sun again but we will always have our photographs. (The backup CDs and DVD are in our safety deposit box with our important papers in case the house ever burns to the ground, not that I’m paranoid. J ) Every time I look at them I know that it was the right thing to spend the money we did with you.  Also, you were so easy to work with that I really felt as though you wanted the best for us which is a very rare quality to find in a wedding vendor. So thank you once again.  If a potential client ever needs a reference for you, please feel free to have them contact me.

We brought home a happy souvenir from our Irish honeymoon that is now 9 months old and crawling all around our house.  Liam Patrick is perfect in every way and has made us a real family.  I hope that you continue to enjoy your family and that your new home is filled with love.

God bless,
Carrie French"

For me, THIS is what art is all about!  I love photography because it is who I am and I love making that same connection with others who love photography as much as I do.

Below is one of my favorite images from their wedding.  Thank you again for your awesome encouragement James & Carrie!

Best Wishes,
Michael

Free Engagement Sessions!

I am giving away three completely free engagement sessions!  No strings attached.  Completely free!

Of course there are some rules, so here they are:

1. You must be getting married in 2008 (you can't be already married)!

2. You have to e-mail me and tell my why you should be one of the three lucky couples!

3. You have to e-mail me an image of the two of you being yourselves!

4. You have to do all this by Monday, February 11, 2008!

5. Sessions are subject to my available dates, and must be performed in the immediate Lake Tahoe area (unless you would like me to travel - fees apply)

The three couples will be announced on Valentine's Day so stay tuned for the winners!  In the mean time, please tell everyone you know so they can round up all the eligible couples!

Good luck!

Best Wishes,
Michael

Congratulations Brian & Tracy!

I photographed Brian & Tracy's wedding on September 23, 2006 and enjoyed photographing her bridal session, and their engagement session before that!

As an FYI, an image from Tracy's bridal session graces the entrance page to Escalera Photography (the middle image).

I just got a wonderful e-mail from them welcoming their newborn son, Ryan, to the world!  I'll be flying back to the east coast for a few weddings this year and we are hoping to get together for a family session.

In the mean time, enjoy an image from their wedding and an image of Ryan, courtesy of Brian and Tracy!

Congratulations!!!

Best Wishes,
Michael
